Methodology
How we rate UK online casinos
We do not give operators a single overall score and call it a ranking. That approach hides the fact that a casino can be brilliant on payments but weak on live tables, or fast to pay but run on a white-label platform with thin player protection history. Instead, we rank each operator on every criterion separately so you can see where each one actually stands.
Our editorial spine is UK licensing and player protection. Every operator we list must hold a current UKGC licence — verified on the public register, not just a badge on their homepage. Beyond that, we assess how each site handles the tools UKGC rules require: GamStop integration, deposit limits, self-exclusion, and segregated player funds.

How we assign verdicts
Each operator gets a one-word editor verdict — Strong, Solid, or Niche — based on our overall assessment across all criteria, weighted toward licensing and player protection. "Strong" means the operator excels on most factors we check. "Solid" means it does the job without standout strengths or glaring weaknesses. "Niche" means it serves a specific audience — small game library, limited live casino, or a newer licence — and may not suit everyone.
These verdicts are opinions based on our research, not guarantees. We check licence status, payment methods, and stated withdrawal times on each operator's site. We do not deposit real money at every site or time every withdrawal — where we have not tested personally, we state what the operator claims and flag it accordingly.
Independence and affiliate funding
The Casino Index UK is funded through affiliate commission. When you sign up through our links, we may earn a fee from the operator. That does not change our ratings, the order we present operators, or which sites we include. We are not owned by any casino brand, and operators cannot pay for a better verdict or higher placement.
We currently compare 5 operators. If an operator loses its UKGC licence or fails our verification checks, we remove it. Read our full affiliate disclosure for details on how commission works.
